Ancient surname tiles are next. And still debating a stave church-esque mini roof for over the whole thing. Woods represented: walnut, mahogany, ash, cherry, fir, Italian oak, red oak. Backgrounds represented: Danish, Scottish, Irish, Slovakian, German, Italian, English
The Ancestor Wall Project Honoring our ancestors The Ancestor Wall Project Honoring our ancestors is such an integral part of Norse Paganism - and a highlight for my family in our daily practice. Those who came before us overcame challenges, experienced love, worked hard, investigated spirit .... they built the luck that our modern families have inherited. In my home, the ancestral altar is central to everything we do and sits in the middle of our soace. I'm filling its wall with wooden tiles inscribed with the families and individuals who have inspired us and sacrificed for us. Heroes and filgyur. The completed wall will hold 25 tiles in walnut, ash, fir, cherry, maple, oak, and more. Their artwork ranges from Nordic to Celtic, Saxon to Slavic. I hope you'll be inspired as the project continues!

Urnes style backlit wall piece. Solid oak frame an Urnes style backlit wall piece. Solid oak frame and aged copper-look painted grill. Before I find a place to hang it, here's a bit of the process! I lacquered and hand-painted the CNC cut grill to look like copper with a light patina. The oak frame is all cut and profiled on a table saw, with a routered pocket in the back for the LED electronics. Stained and lacquered to finish.
